Diastema refers to the spaces between two adjacent teeth. These gaps can be in a single region or in more than one region. Diastema closure treatment is a treatment method in which the gap between two teeth (a gap that is too small and narrow to add another tooth) is closed using adhesive restorative materials. These gaps can be closed with tooth-colored aesthetic composites or porcelain laminates.

The material and method to be used in the treatment are decided by the dentist. In general, it is possible to close the diastema in a single session without abrading the teeth. However, in some cases, it may be necessary to include more than two teeth in the treatment in order to erode and maintain the ratios between the teeth.
