Endodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with root canal treatment. Endodontic treatment or root canal treatment; evacuation, expansion, disinfection of root canals and filling process. Root canal treatment is applied when irreversible inflammatory reactions develop in the root canals.
These teeth usually have large caries that have progressed to the pulp of the tooth. Apart from the development of caries, similar tables may occur as a result of mechanical or thermal traumas to the tooth and root canal treatment may be required. Root canal treatment allows the tooth to remain in the mouth, if possible, instead of extracting the tooth.
Restoration of the tooth after root canal treatment can be done with filling, inlay-onlay or porcelain crowns.
